We have a great crew here at Witch’s Rock Surf Camp, and we like to acknowledge standouts who are doing a particularly good job. We haven’t posted “Employee of the Month” in awhile, but we’re getting back on track by honoring the Lord of the Board cage: Maxi. (aka “Waxi”)

If you’ve ever visited WRSC, Maxi is one guy you won’t forget. He’s a cheerful, sunny presence, helping guests select the right board, waxing and prepping, managing our ever-shifting inventory of boards, leashes, and fins, and keeping everything clean, repaired, and organized. What really makes Maxi stand out as a member of the Team is how he performs at a high level day after day, year after year…nine years to be exact!

Maxi has worked for WRSC since 2002, starting out doing basic maintenance jobs. He wanted to run the board cage, and studied English on his own until he landed the gig. He’s been defining the role of what it means to Manage the Board cage ever since; Maxi takes pride in being a Linchpin, and he keeps finding new ways to improve our fleet of boards and grow his skills. We sometimes forget, because he’s so steady, that Maxi is one of the most pro-active employees we have at the Camp.

You can’t have a surf camp without surfboards, so the guy who manages the board cage is a key role. Congratulations and thanks to Maxi, and we look forward to another nine years!
