Surf Report for Monday, July 4th 2011

Playa Grande (Las Palmeras)

Headed north today to see if we could find somewhere catching the SSW swell.  We arrived at Palmeras around 2:30pm and the waves were definitely picking up but they lacked some organization.  We stuck it out, even with the wind onshore, and as the day progressed we saw some decent shoulder and head high sets breaking.  There was quit a bit of chop in the water and not too many long rides but the occasionaly great ride was still around.  A bit south of us at the Main break in Grande there were some good waves breaking outside in the head to just overhead range, although again, most of the rides were a bit short lived.  Tamarindo today was small but fairly clean with some shifting winds.  The sunset session was great for longboards.

For Tuesday we should see the swell continue it´s upward swing moving into solid head high coming out of the S with a small SSW contribution late in the evening.  Winds are predicted to be side shore early moving onshore in the late morning and holding until sunset.  Conditions should follow the wind with fair early and choppy for the remainder.

High Tide for Tuesday at 5:30am/5:47pm

Low at 11:34am/11:52pm

Time of Post 9:06pm Local Time
