Weekend Surf Update – June 23-24, 2012 (video)

Hey there surfers, watch the video to see surf conditions in Playa Avellanas and Playa Tamarindo over this weekend. There was fun surf, we celebrated International Surfing Day with the Tamarindo Surfrider chapter. There was a surf contest with many of the groms surfing really well. Saturday night there was a big party at Witch’s Rock Surf Camp with a live band, a dj, and an auction to raise money for Tamarindo beach. Thanks for coming out and showing your support Tamarindo!

Current Conditions:
Wave size has been in the waist to stomach high range the last few days. Winds have been picking up early and blowing onshore mid-morning. Some rain showers have cleaned things up a bit. Overall it hasn’t been spectacular surf conditions but there has always been something to ride.

Surf Forecast:
The bad news is that the swell is continuing to get smaller this next week. Expect the surf to level out at the waist high range throughout the week at most spots. The good news is that the winds should mellow out. This, and the fact that the high tides are now at 6am/7am/8am etc through the week means that if you wake up early, you’ll probably get some really clean conditions at the local beach breaks. If you hit up spots that face to the south/southwest you’ll hopefully see some bigger sets coming in the chest high range.

Tides for Monday June 25th
High Tide: 6:37am
Low Tide: 12:41pm
High Tide: 6:53pm
