Surf Report for Thursday, June 9th 2011

Tamarindo

What started out as an overcast day here on the main break, turned quickly into something fun.  There were no epic sets but there were some solid rides with some short lefts and some medium rights heading towards the rocks in the early morning.  Waves were coming in between waist and chest high for most of the early morning.  The size only showed up for about 20 minutes on either side of the high tide and most of the bigger, head high sets, shut down.  With the tide sucking out around noon and the winds kicking onshore the conditions went from glassy to choppy.   Some fun long board waves in between the river and the main Stuck around.  The rest of the day saw the winds holding onshore with waves around the knee to waist high range. Closer to sunset the wind died and the waves picked up, but the waves were out done by the setting sun.

For Friday the forecast is showing the swell remaining stable in the morning, with head high and occasional overhead coming out of the SW.  We’ll still be fairly sheltered from the swell here at the Main but there is always the possibility for some big sets to show up here.  Winds should be running light for the day with sideshore in the morning and onshore for the rest of the day.

High Tide for Friday at 9:16am/9:46pm

Low Tide at 2:46am/3:16pm

Time of post 11:30pm Local Time
