Anyone who’s ever been to Tamarindo has noticed a couple things right off the bat…
The perfect beginner waves crashing along the beach, the arching bay of Tamarindo / Playa Grande, and the quaint, white-sand island right off the coast, known as Isla Capitan, or “The Island” as the locals call it.
With all the action happening in Tamarindo, it’s hard to imagine an untouched island exists only a few hundred yards offshore. We’ve all heard exaggerated stories of the perfect left point break and tubing right-hander (below) that wrap around the island on a perfect swell, but honestly, surfers are rarely (more like never) seen…
Last week, the WRSC instructors and guests took a field trip to the Island. They grabbed the biggest boards they could, and after a 30-40 min paddle, they were greeted by a whole new perspective of Tamarindo. Check out the photos of the adventure below! The guests loved this tour so much that we will be incorporating it into our weekly regimen upon request.
