March 12th, 2010-
I usually dont take the time to write reviews but this place is SO GREAT I just had to. Initially I had reservations about coming to Costa Rica as a solo traveller so I figured the surf camp route was a safe bet. After landing on a Saturday night and traveling to the camp in darkness, I woke up the next morning at first light with that hesitation that comes with not knowing what to expect. That hesitation was gone in the first 5 minutes as I was greeted by fantastic peeling waves 100 yards from my front door, a group of friendly surf instructors ready to paddle out with me and the other guests, and a group of fellow campers who were as determined as I to have a great time.
…and it just got better from there!
Bottom line, the trip of a lifetime that I recommend to ANYONE no matter what your surfing ability and who you are travelling with. There were solo travelers like me, couples, groups of guys, groups of ladies, it just didnt matter. You can have whatever experience you want and no matter how you choose to do it, you will have the time of your life.
So if you are reading this trying to decide whether to “pull the trigger” contemplate no more and book it. You will not be sorry.
I write this to pay my deepest respects to Joe, Larry (for talking me into pulling the trigger!), Shawna and all the surf instructors. You are all first rate. Most specifically to Flash, Killian and Edgar who made me feel like I had known them for years. I cant wait to have another Imperial (the local beer) with you guys. And yes, that will happen…I will be back!
Until then, continue doing what you do so well
