Leo is literally the FIRST person you’ll meet on you vacation to Witch’s Rock Surf Camp. Known for his brilliant smile and his calm, Costa Rican energy, Leo will transport you to many World Class Waves while here in Costa Rica. As one of the longest standing employees at Witch’s Rock, Leo is a guest favorite and keeps in touch with many of his favorite returners. In this week’s employee spotlight, we take a look into Leo’s world to see what gives him such genuine “Pura Vida” energy.
-How long have you been working at Witch’s Rock?
This year I’m going to complete 16 years
-Have you always been a driver?
Yes, I’ve always been a chauffeur.
-Favorite Time of Year in Tamarindo?
I love the high season (Dec – April) when when there more people at camp to meet and more work for us. The tips are better this time of year too :)
-Who are your favorite types of guests?
It varies. I can’t say there is one type of person that I like the most. I’ve met beautiful people from the United States, locals from Costa Rica who come from the city to spending the week on the beach. I even remember meting people from China and Asia who are super respectful and nice.
-Do you surf or have you ever tried surfing?
No, unfortunately I have never tried surfing. I have very sensitive ears and I actually cant even go into a swimming pool or I’ll get an ear infection.
-What makes working at WR special?
I love meeting guests from around the world and helping create a wonderful vacation in our beautiful country.
-What is your favorite beach to go?
I love Playa Guioness in Nosara. The beach is so big and everyone doing different activities in the sand. No one fights over the waves because there’s so much space.
-What do you do when you’re not at work?
Right now I spend my free time watching over my mom because she is very sick. I clean her house and just keep her company because she doesn’t like to be alone. Every once in a while I’ll go out to watch a soccer game but not so much.
