Tamarindo Bay now rests a bit safer..
Two weeks ago began the start of a week-long, Tamarindo lifeguard training program hosted by Captain Luis Hidalgo and the Asociacion Nacional de Guardavidas Costa Rica. This intensive training program readied up over 15 Tamarindo locals with all the lifesaving skills they may need when a fast-acting situation occurs.
Here at Witch’s Rock, we were lucky to include two of our lead instructors, J.Luis and David Torres, in this week-long program. Each day started with a 4-hour, in-water training coarse followed by a 4-hour, lifesaving theory class. The classes focused on physical training, victim retrieval and resuscitation, and step-by-step guides for first respondents. Now that these two instructors (also fathers) are sufficiently educated with these lifesaving skills, the waters of Tamarindo rest safer with watchful eyes.
Dates for the next Tamarindo Lifeguard training are scheduled for Nov 17- Nov 22. With this new round of certification, Witch’s Rock is planning to enroll 2 more instructors further securing our beach. We believe that a lifesaving program like this is a powerful step forward for our town and are happy to be a part of keeping Tamarindo’s waters safe for everybody.
If you or anyone you know would like to be a part of the next Lifeguard certification in Tamarindo, please note the information below. From everyone at Witch’s Rock…….PURA VIDA!
